It is estimated that every year approximately 640,000 tons of fishing gear is lost or abandoned at sea or in the ocean.  Millions of marine animals are killed every year by these ghost fishing nets.
Our swimwear is made using ECONYL fabric which is comprised of recovered fishing nets and post-consumer plastic (approximately 40% of discarded plastic in the ocean).
Giving Back
These 'ghost nets' are recovered by teams of volunteer divers with Healthy Seas.  Therefore, it is only right that we donate a portion of every piece sold so they can continue their incredible mission!  For each order placed with us, we will donate a portion of the proceeds to cover the cost of recovering 3.5 ounces of fishing nets from the ocean.

Also, our manufacturer donates a portion of their proceeds to the ROLE Foundation, Bali Wise and SOS Indonesia.  These organizations aim to improve the planet by promoting women's business education and development along with environmental programs and eco-friendly business practices that when followed, lead to zero waste facilities and oceans.  This zero waste is a must for the sustainability of businesses in the coastal communities!

Humanitarian Standards
Our swimwear is produced in Bali, Indonesia. Workers are paid up to three times the labor standards for this industry along with benefits that include a work week of less than 40 hours, comprehensive health insurance for employees and family, an additional month of salary annually, and profit sharing along with the opportunity to participate in additional educational programs and social events.
Simply put - if the bathing suit costs $20, chances are the person who made  does not share the same quality of life that you do =)

Animal Welfare

No animals are involved in any part of our manufacturing and distribution processes. In fact, the nets recovered that are used to make the fabric potentially save marine life in the future!

Our packaging is recyclable, compostable and plastic free. No unnecessary packaging, hang tags and trash-bound packing slips. All of our paper products are 100% recycled paper. (Including the paper in our office printer!) The bags we receive our swimwear in are biodegradable, made from tapioca. Our mailers are home compostable. Even our hygienic liners are plastic free and curbside recyclable!

Our practices aren't perfect by any means, but it is a step in the right direction.  To learn more about how you can get more involved, please feel free to email us at
